TripBooks ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile expense tracking application designed for travelers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.

Key Point: TripBooks stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on any server.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

TripBooks does not collect, store, or share any of the following:

Photos, camera, or media files
Contacts or address book data
Payment method details (credit cards, bank accounts)

Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data

3. Data Stored on Your Device

TripBooks stores the following data locally on your device only using AsyncStorage:

4. Third-Party Services

Frankfurter API

TripBooks uses the Frankfurter API to fetch real-time currency exchange rates. When you open the app or refresh exchange rates, a network request is made to this service containing only:

The source and target currency codes (e.g., USD, EUR)

No personal data, device identifiers, or user information is sent with these requests. Please refer to the Frankfurter API for their own privacy practices.

Expo

TripBooks is built with Expo (React Native). Expo's build and update services are used for app distribution. Please refer to Expo's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling practices.

5. Permissions

TripBooks may request the following device permissions:

No permissions for location, camera, microphone, or contacts are requested.

6. Data Export

TripBooks allows you to export trip data as a PDF document. When you export data:

The PDF is generated locally on your device
You control where the file is saved or shared via the system print/share dialog
No data is uploaded to our servers during export

7. No User Accounts

TripBooks does not require user registration, login, or any form of authentication. The app works entirely without an account. There are no usernames, passwords, or sessions to manage.

8. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

Your data is protected by your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, encryption)
Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all TripBooks data from your device
We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date for optimal security

9. Children's Privacy

TripBooks does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the app does not collect personal information from any user, it is safe for use by individuals of all ages.
